Global Tamil Council (GTC) is a non-profit organization, with its headquarters located in Ontario Canada. The GTC, with its activists from across the world; aims at providing Economic, Political, and Socio-cultural strategies to Thamils globally. Working for the emancipation and the right to Self-determination of the Thamil Nation in the island of Sri Lanka as its primary objective, the GTC is committed to empowering the Thamil speaking people of Sri Lanka in the Socio political and economic spheres.

The GTC's multi-generational activists, bring over 100 years of cumulative activism experience, to advocate for the Human rights and Political rights of the Thamil speaking people; in the island of Sri Lanka with Dignity and Equality, and to lobby and educate the international community, the Diplomatic community, NGO's and INGO's on the legitimate aspirations and inherent rights of the Thamil Nation and its people, in the island of Sri Lanka.
